ISSUE 4: TERM LIMITS
Imagine not having the term limit for the President of The United States!
Can you imagine Neil Gorsuch being the Supreme Court Justice at age 49 and giving his decisions governing human behavior to age of 80 and beyond if he did not resign?
Judges indirectly governs by their ruling on the cases.
Supreme Court Associate Judge Clarence Thomas was appointed in 1991 (6/23/1948 Age: +68 years), Anthony Kennedy in 1988 (7/23/1936 Age: +80), Stephen Breyer in 1994 (8/15/1938
Age: +78), Ruth Bader Ginsburg in 1993 (3/15/1933 Age: +83 years), and so on. And so is the data for most District judges. Yes, they need job security and we need their legal experience, but there are so many other positions in the Judicial system and other governments agencies for them to be further appointed and utilize their services.
Look at the congressmen and senators getting reelected time and again to their positions. That is why we cannot get anything accomplished at Capitol Hill because they know how to get election funds and favor the lobbyists. Some of the senators has served more than 51 years. Is not it a shame and manipulation of the system? Mitch McConnell was elected to the office in 1985!
Some of the local offices in states even secretly reelect themselves, like in Texas Water Board Districts, with the collaboration of the district attorneys. The list goes on. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING THAT A NATION THAT IS A “CHAMPION OF DEMOCRACY” LETS SUCH ACTS HAPPEN IN OPEN DAYLIGHT.
WHY SHOULD THERE NOT BE TERM LIMITS ON ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS OF ANY OFFICE?
